Welcome to Year 3
WOW! What a fantastic start to Summer 2.
On Tuesday 4th June, all of Class 3 went to Shugborough for the day.
First we met our guides Mr Green and Mr West, and then we got our ruck sacks on, ready to start exploring!
We had great fun walking the grounds and learning about different types of trees, plants, and shrubs.
We were then set the challenge to run up Sherbrook Valley on Cannock Chase.
This was not as easy as we all thought!
Next we crossed the stepping stones, ready to do our stream survey.
We then carefully measured the near side bank then the far side bank to track the contour of the stream over 50m.
Then we started DEN BUILDING, just in time before the rain started, so we had to make sure we kept the weather out.
Finally we went to the fire pit and learnt how to light a fire, ready to eat toasted marsh mellows. YUMMY!!
What a brilliant day! We walked over 8 miles in total so we were a little tired but felt proud of our achievements. Well done Class 3.
SUMMER is here!
22nd May 2019 – Golf taster session with the professional, Ben Smith!
Today we had great fun learning different shots for golf and how to drive and hit a golf ball accurately.
Here we are!
We can even start golf during the Summer 2 term if we want, by attending a 5 week FUN golf coaching session at Ingestre Park Golf Club after school on Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm.
30th April 2019 – WOW day Saxon experience!
Here we are looking FANTASTIC!!!!
Today we had great fun learning what life was like as a Saxon girl or boy.
We dressed in traditional costume, and to start the day we had to go into our woodland area to collect the wood for the fire.
Well done and great team work! Here we are…
Then we were challenged to make our very own miniature Saxon village using cardboard boxes, sticks, lolly pop sticks, hay and straw.
This was good fun and a bit messy too!
Here are our finished Saxon homes – our very own miniature Saxon village, with a central camp fire.
20th March 2019 – Sharing our Biographies with some Year 2 children
As one of our writing challenges this half term, we have been researching different inventors and learning about their lives, inventions, difficulties they faced and the impact these inventions have had on us today. We then produced our own Biographies, recording our findings and then shared them with children in different year groups. Here are some of us sharing our writing with Year 2.
World Maths Day – Wednesday 6th March
Well done Class 3 for having a fun Maths Day exploring shape, to celebrate World Maths Day.
Here we are making a selection of different sized and different coloured kites by just folding a piece of paper twice. We then arranged the kites to make different patterns.
We also learnt some MATHS MAGIC with the magical Maths Calculator.
The ‘S’ Factor (Sport factor) 26th February

Well done everyone for taking part!
Tuesday 5th February
Well done girls for being so responsible when caring for one of your friends when they were feeling unwell.
You were very grown up and very thoughtful, putting others before yourself, going above and beyond. Thank you.
Tuesday 8th January 2019
On Tuesday 8th January, we started our Spring term with our WOW day inspired by the Explorer Dome Space Show.
Here we are waiting to enter the hemisphere shaped dome!!
Inside the dome…
After the dome experience, we then created our own space scenes. Here we are painting our watercolour backgrounds and making 3D moons using shaving foam, paint, glitter and PVA glue…
Here are our finished space scenes.

Here are our prayers placed on the tree.
As part of our Science work looking at our healthy eating and our bodies, we had the chance to make our own skeletons. This was tricky, but great fun!
28th Nov Cross Country Event
This morning a group of Year 3 and 4 children took part in an outdoor cross country event at Rugeley Leisure Centre. Despite the windy, cold and damp weather, all the children were eager to take part in the 600m circuit around the field. Very kindly, some parents came along to support us and we even had our very own pet mascot dog Matilda.
Thank you parents for all your support as always.
Here are the children before the event – Team Colwich!
The Year 4 girls ran first, then the Year 4 boys, followed by the Year 3 girls and finally the Year 3 boys. Here they go!
Here are the different positions the children came out of about 80 children per race.
Well done everybody for completing the circuit.
You are all winners! 🙂
Light and Shadows
Here we are performing our puppet shows to end our Science work on light and shadows.
At the end of half term, we shared our stories with Class 1.
Here are our sequels to our class novel ‘The Magic Finger’.
We had great fun thinking of our own stories in the style of the famous ‘Magic Finger’ by Roald Dahl.
Here are our finished versions.
10th October 2018
Our first worship at Church now we’re in KS2. Thank you for all parents and carers who could join us and share our Worship celebrations and our own prayers.

We then worked in the hall learning new circus skills.
We were brilliant scarf throwers!
