Personal Development

At Colwich Church of England Primary School, we recognise that encouraging and supporting a child’s personal development is a crucial factor in their ability to enjoy learning and to achieve. As such, we aim to provide an environment and opportunities that enable children to explore and develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.

All our pupils are helped to work towards their personal development goals supported by our school aims; our school Christian values and the organisation of our Family Groups. Here at Colwich School, all children have an individual Personal Development Passport, working hard to achieve different awards throughout their primary school life.

Children are actively encouraged to:

  • Try new things
  • Work hard
  • Concentrate
  • Push themselves
  • Imagine
  • Improve
  • Understand others
  • Persevere

We also use our Building Learning Power ‘muscles’ to extend the scope of our learning, focusing on the following life skills:

  • Resilience
  • Resourcefulness
  • Relationships
  • Reflectiveness
  • Risk-taking

To reward outstanding behaviour and exceptional work throughout the school ‘gemstones’ are awarded to individual pupils which contribute to family group totals each half term and every month we celebrate the achievements of individual ‘Learners for Life’.

Our mission is to develop in all our pupils thirst for learning, joy in discovery and pride in achievement so that they see themselves as learners for life.
